I called my local Echo dealer to ask for a price on a srm 2620, The lady said they were out, but said they have a Shindaiwa (don't remember the model) which is the same as the srm 2620. Is this true?

Echo purchased shindaiwa- I used to be a dealer for both- but we let shindaiwa go because they are getting so close to being the exact same product that there was no benefit to being a dealer for both. Shindaiwa typically is the Lexus vs echo being the Toyota because they have nicer grips, solid steel shafts and a bigger shield on their trimmers. Not a fan of the eb802 or eb854 vs the PB-770 tho. All in all they are both great- but Echo is what we stuck with

The 802 is still pure Shindy and is an awesome BP. I like the Echo 770 very well, but the 802 is better, and has more power, and yes I have ran them both. The 802 can be made to breath as easy as the 770 and other BP's in about i minute.
I agree the eb802 is a good blower- but we had customers who had crews keep breaking air boxes off from throwing them in trucks and they would run them lean and burn them up or ingest a lot of dirt and wreck out- plus the parts are so much higher.... the hip throttle with the metal flex tubing is not my favorite design and the throttle assy is $85 bucks when its gets broken/ hard to work with. I sold 10-15 eb802s the first couple years i was open- they are all gone now. I could see they would be great for solo operators that care about their stuff

i get a little windfall im gonna buy a few redmax for future personal use before husqvarna wrecks them , sad day when they bought redmax . jap engineering should NEVER be phased out by hackqvarna

Blowers arnt the same 854 is more powerful than the 770 by far. 802 is close to 770 but totally different blower.

Haven’t run many newer Echo stick stuff but Shin sticks have Sucked since the new EPA restrictions and Echo ownership. Haven’t bought one in last 2 years though.

I just got the 2018 Shindaiwa catalogue yesterday. From what I can tell the only remaining true Shindaiwa equipment is:
T282 trimmer
T344 trimmer (4 mix)
EB802 blower
EB854 blower.

Looks like they took away the T242 trimmer as well.

I've always loved Shindaiwa equipment. I still have a 2007 T230 trimmer that's still going strong. Last year I picked up a T242 trimmer which I like a lot. I also have an old 352s chainsaw. The equipment is great but since Echo took over, the original Shindaiwa stuff seems to be regulated to a niche spot in their line up.
