In the past two seasons I've had this Honda with increasing starting problems. Sometimes would take up to 10 or more pulls to start. Took it to a dealer twice last year and problem never solved. Took it to a different dealer this week and the tech took 30 seconds to diagnose the problem. Take off the air cleaner cover, the element and look inside. If the choke flapper is in the open position on a cold engine the automatic choke is the problem. There is a Honda bulletin on this available to any dealer. The first dealer really had no clue. I found out more on Google enough to suspect the problem than the first dealer. Was never able to talk directly to the tech. The new tech spent 20 minutes discussing this and other potential issues.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, its an automatic choke. I like the machine so if that is only problem then I'm still satisfied. A new dealer for sure. Can't wait to give feed back to the former place as i still go there for hardware. Tech must be a moron to not know there was a service bulletin on the auto choke. They even sell Honda mowers. The first year or two it started on first pull like they should so I think the sole problem is the auto choke. The tech at new place knew all about it; if it happens again I know how to diagnose it. Should get it back it next day or two.
