This will be a brief statement of my opinion of 2017 (i think) Ferris 3200z 72"deck with 37HP
First a couple things about me. I owned operated a landscaping business for 10 years and have been in OPE business, dealer, landscaping outfit etc. for most of my life.
I now live on a farm with around 7 acres I mow weekly weather permitting, I also have pasture that is waist high that I mow for trails, or to clear a spot for cutting a dead ash tree etc.
My previous mower was a 27hp 52" toro z that was a carry over from my landscaping business so for comparison purposes that is the mower.

Again my personal observations.
The cut. Hands down the Toro had a better cut, the Toro deck created a vacuum that would stand the grass up and pull the surrounding grass in to the deck. The problem I had with that was when the grass was wet the deck would plug and I would have to find a spot to shut the blades off and drop a wheelbarrow load of grass on the ground.
The Ferris deck has no noticeable "vacuum". In other words if your deck is set at 3.5" and the grass or weed is laying down it will not stand it up and cut, this is especially noticed when mowing clover (I keep honey bees), where the front tires lay the clover over the deck never pulls it back up to get mowed. Furthermore it is actually noticed in any tall grass the front tires can lay down, there will be two strips of laid down grass where the tires mashed the grass. However I have never had the deck load with grass and plug like I did with the Toro.

The ride. The Toro did not have any suspension seat but it was a nice seat..... I could have told you where every chuck hole and bump was in my yard, My back hurt, guts hurt, everything, also had to mow slowly for self preservation.
This is where the Ferris shines, I can rally across just about anything at 12mph with hardly any discomfort. This is a big deal and makes up for me the inadequate cut in tall grass.

The Machine. Both the Toro and Ferris are what I feel to be a good engine mower combo. In my opinion the 37 HP is by no means over doing it. The biggest problem I had with the Toro was keeping the deck belt on when engaging the blades. With 3 hours on the Ferris the pto bearing was squalling. They replaced it under warranty and now again at 30 hours it pto bearing is squalling.

To be fair, in weekly mowing accounts I the Ferris cut would be acceptable but we all know conditions are never perfect.

Why not demo a mower that can handle those situations better? Scag or JD would be the machines I would demo. Superior decks to anything else in the market period.

The only time I mow 12mph which is awesome btw is when the grass is perfectly dry and has been mowed recently. I do slow down to improve quality of cut, I have personally logged thousands of hours on zero turns so operator error should not be a factor. The easiest way to describe it is, if the weed or grass (wet is a factor) is not at deck height its not going to get mowed.

Again, not complaining just observations.
I had to have a suspension system. (I have mowed with scag and JD). For my dealer options that left, Toro, Scag, or Ferris. I know the Toro cut is good and the Myride looks like it would do the trick, but it was $3-4K more money and had a smaller engine. The scag cheetah was a serious contender too however the engine was small in comparison. I am from the school of you can never have to much hp.

I rode a Ferris IS2100 and a Cheetah back-to-back. The Ferris won hands down in the ride department. The Cheetah was nice but nowhere near the ride of the Ferris.

And the ride of the IS3200 should be even better.

It might be the right time for Ferris/Snapper Pro to update the ICD. The ICD is a great deck but not quite on par with the V+ or 7 iron.

I am running the 37 efi in a ttii. What kind of gph are you seeing? Mine is not even broken in and i am seeing 1.63 consistently with 93 octane and a 61" deck.

I have test rode an exmark with myride... that was the ost comfortable thing i had ever been on. I have not been on a ferris though. I was unimpressed with my test ride of a cheetah.... but i do not think it was adjusted right for my weight.

what year toro did you have? the new machines (toro's) come with a nice suspension and idolator mounts.

I recently used a 72" toro (no suspension seat) and thought it rode better than my 60" with suspension.

I have not checked the GPH out, I can tell you I use one whole tank to mow the yard and it used to take two tanks on my Toro 27hp kohler, but I was out there a lot longer too

That is kinda strange that the bearings are going so fast. Must have got a batch of bad ones or something during that production run.
It is intermittent When I brought it into the shop they kinda thought I was hearing stuff but after two weeks they called and said they finally heard the noise and several other mowers had come in with the same problem since.
Hopefully they send out a service bulletin or something and replace the clutch with one that has a good bearing.

I hear ya! Were talking suspension system though like whole machine. I like the Toro Myride but again it was a lot more cabbage and I like the efi 37hp on the Ferris
