Well, no responses here! LOL. Anyway I passed section 1. Mostly knowledge of construction contracts and contract law as well as bidding, roles off owners, designers and contractors, etc. got me through no problem.
Three more to go!

I did my licensing way back in 2000, so the tests have changed a bit from back then. Most were based on general knowledge, so specifically studying for them was more about getting in a state of mind that is mostly to do with public safety and much less to do with design creativity. The toughest one to pass for most people back then was grading and drainage because that was calculations and many people drawn to our field are more artistic and less mathematical.

State of mind and feeling prepared is important. I'm hoping to see some grading and drainage questions myself, my day job is in civil construction. Absolutely most LAs are more artistic, hard to test on that aspect I guess.
Section 3 and 4 are more expensive at $570 a pop, I'm sure those are a little tougher.
It's a shame once I get through testing I won't be able to register because I work for a PE which counts for up to 1 year experience out of 3 required.

My employed work experience is mostly with Civil Engineers as well. If you have been doing any grading plans in a CE office you'll have no trouble with it on LARE. Don't be "artistic" with grading. I assume they still require some drawing on the grading section. The tests that I took did not leave a lot of room for flowing contours due to limited space and maximized slopes, so try to be precise in your drafting.
