hi there i recently sold my Bradley stander(i loved it and totally recommend it) and am starting to look at new equipment, the reason i sold my Bradly was because i met Ferris. it and Bradley are similar in some ways, but the Ferris's tended to be more modern. i am looking at there standers and got the z3x 52 with the 37 hp vanguard earlier this spring. i absolutely love it. awesome machine. it has extreme comfort and cut quality, it never bogs down, and the price was fair, about 10,500, only a little more than the exmark staris. i got it with a few accessories, which they gave me a deal on. because this mowers cut quality looks great, my clients neighbors(usually within a few houses) give a call and i work for them too. it is time consuming to finish both(or three!) yards with one mower. so we wanted to get another mower. we were considering a walk behind, but we wanted one with the same deck as Ferris, so that narrowed it down to Ferris ztrs or stand-on's. we are aware that simplicity and snapper pro use the same decks, but they did not look as well built as the Ferris models. we considered getting the same mower again, but we did not need that much power as a 37hp, so to cut costs, we looked at the z2. we settled on a z2 52 with a Kawasaki 25.5 hp engine. but should we pick the fx801v regular? or the fx730v EFI?m the efi is about 400 cheaper, but i dont know if there are any differences in power or reliability. thanks any feedback welcome.

Ive owned a Z2 52" w/kawi 801 for a year now. No issue what so ever.... mind you i dont use it as much as others might as mowing is a side gig for me.

The 801 is the better platform and packs a better punch for anything you throw at it compared to the smaller 730. The 801 engine is especially great for a 52" ztr with a collection system. When i got my z2, i was a little caught up in the "i need an efi mower", but i had to remind myself that i wasnt using it 24/7 and that this engine is stronger than the 28hp briggs efi option. I got lucky because my dealer had this mower sitting on the floor for a while and wanted to move it at a good price.

As far as pricing goes, make sure you ask about the fleet rebate. Ferris has it where if you buy a second mower within the first year since you bought your first mower, there is a nice rebate. My z2 was $6300 before 8% tax, then there was a $500 fleet rebate which dropped it to $5800 plus tax. I couldnt say no lolol.

Over the years of working in the business and helping my brother in law with his business, we have found that the fx801/w vac system combo works great for our needs in the northeast... 6 of my brother in laws toro mowers have this engine.... He went with toro as they were the only ones offering this engine in a 52". Ferris has always offered it, but he wasnt interested in them at that time. He is now going to start switch to ferris do to the better engine options for his needs.

FX801v definitely. There's nothing wrong with carbureted engines. As long as you don't leave stale fuel in the engine you should be good. And if you ever have to leave the the unit sitting for a while, put some fuel stabilizer in the tank and run the engine a little bit to make sure it's in the carb.
