Ok, I just received my backpack sprayer from My4Sons’s today. My observations are the tank assembly and hoses are pretty good. Overall construction seems good for the price. The battery seems to be the same one used in the shurflos...good, I got 3 of them.

Unfortunately, the hose barb on the tank which the hose screws onto was broken with half of the plastic barb still stuck in the connector. I called the company and within 1.5 hours I received a call from Chad. He mentioned they were having issues with the latest shipment of this sprayer. He says the pump and connector are all one piece meaning there is not small hose connection between the pump and the barb where the spray hose connects.

Because of this problem, they are upgrading to a new pump assembly so as to avoid this problem in the future. Now this is where I will say that “Their customer service is excellent”. They gave me the option of getting a new pump and hose assembly and I could replace the pump myself or they would send me a whole new unit.

I asked them to send me a new unit and I would return the damaged one. This is where it gets good... Chad told me that I did not need to return the unit but to keep it for parts and on top of that, he was going to send me the new pump assembly so I could fix the broken sprayer when I have time. Bottom line, I’m getting two sprayers for the price of one. I paid $143 for this which included the 15 foot braided hose and the spray gun.

Once I receive the new unit and test it, I will put my two cents out there.

The moral to this story is their customer service went far and above my expectations. My conclusion is you cannot go wrong purchasing the sprayer from this company. If you were thinking about getting a electric backpack sprayer, I would recommend that you give them a call.

I’m just following up my previous post above. I received the new sprayer and the new pump last Friday. I now have 2 sprayers for the price of one after replacing the pump that was broken on the first one that I ordered.

Today was my first day out doing shrub applications, so I got a chance to use this sprayer for the first time on out of the way shrub beds were it is a PITA to get my spray hose into. Overall, so far I give it a . I sprayed about 12 gallons of product out of it and it worked as advertised using the adjustable psi.

As with any new product, time will tell just how well and how long this sprayer will last. The shurflos are getting very expensive. The first ones I bought were just over $100 bucks. Ther’re now hovering around the $250-$300 price range.

The Chapin Lithium ion BP sprayers I bought last year are another very good product. Their only downside is they have 1 preset presure setting at around 40 psi.

Pretty much junk. Spend the extra money to get a flow zone or strom.
Been working great for me. Excellent customer support as well. Had a few issues in the two years I've been using it and they always respond and take care of it quick.

Tell me what you had a problem with?
Not great build quality, hard to find parts, isn't easily compatible with tee jets or other nozzles, cheap gaskets on the heavier side, straps are not comfortable, weak pump, built in battery. If the flow zones were astronomically more expensive i might put up with it, but they are significantly better for 50-100$ more.

The battery is not built in, it is easily replaceable. The pumps are the same as any other electric backpack and are plenty strong enough for killing weeds or spraying for insects. It is boy heavy if you fillet full, the unit itself is not heavy. Straps are fine, no worse or better than others I have tried. The wand is junk and all the threads on the fittings are some metric that I am not familiar with. I just mounted a Spraying Systems wand on it and it works fine. It is pretty good for the price.

I'll agree the build quality is not on the same level as more expensive sprayers I've seen and used, that said...

I use tee jet nozzles on mine, they slip right in the threaded female fittings the sprayer comes with.

Battery is a standard gelcell and sits behind a snap on cover with a velcro strap holding it down and spade plugs connecting it, so not sure what you mean by "built in"?, I can take mine out in 10 seconds with no tools.
Not sure how much power you need in a backpack sprayer pump but it's way more than I need for spraying gly, I run it just a bit above the minimum it can do for spot spraying and can cover large areas quickly if I turn it up some.

I'll agree the original straps were definitely uncomfortable but it comes with padded straps now that are as comfortable as anything else I've used...mainly shindaiwa manual sprayers.

All the parts are available on their website pretty cheap, although I've never had to buy a part as they have always just shipped me any part I needed free of charge when I emailed them.

I put my backpacks through the ringer. I do a lot of bed control with them, so I'm running gallery/surflan/prodiamine and sometimes a post. The four sons are ok, just not anywhere near the quality of the flow zones. By built in battery I meant its not easy to switch battery to battery out in the field if one goes out. Maybe mine has different components, but the fittings are metric and the threads are not deep and don't screw on very well to anything I can find. The quick connects on the flow zone are high quality.

Have to throw at the Jacto Pj-16 had been a great unit for me. No issues now going on 3 season this year. Only thing I've replaced or changed was the tips. Still on original battery, straps, gaskets, etc...

Light weight small frame and overall nice build quality. They are not that costly but not cheap in the $300+ range.

I really like the pj-20, love that it holds 5 gallons but feels like 4. Only complaint is I don't like the pin on the handle exposed and the hose comes out of the back instead of the side.
