Hello everyone! In preparation for next spring I am wondering if a striping kit is worth it. I really like striping clients grass whenever I can, and $200 something is totally worth it. I am wondering about drawbacks though.

Is it gonna basically mark where I drove whenever I’m not striping making the lawn look uglier?

It’s it gonna affect my approach and decline angle ability? Like when driving through a ditch.

Anything else I’m not thinking of?

What kit do y’all recommend? I’ve Got a 60” Super Z Hyperdrive.

Big league is probably the most well known manufacturer of aftermarket striping kits.

I had planned on purchasing their kit, but after observing its construction, opted to build a replica instead. My homemade one looks nearly identical and was about half the cost. If you don't have the tools or skillsets to build your own, buying one of theirs may be the way to go. The quick detach feature is a must for me I like being able to quickly remove it if I want to tow something else.

I've never noticed any mobility issues with it attached. Yes if you drive across the stripes you just did then it will leave an imprint, but that would happen anyways.

Are you warm or cool season grass? or both?

From what I read warm grasses don't necessarily stripe as easy as cool.

I have a striper/roller by Exmark that is brand new, never used it. It is made to mount on the rear anti-scalp wheel brackets. I suppose it could be modified to work on a Hustler. It's your if we can figure out how to get it to you. With this design I suppose when you are traveling across the yard you could lift the deck up and it would stripe where you didn't want it to. I'll try and remember to take a pic and post

Meant to say WOULN'T stripe when the deck is lifted up

I had a striper kit on my older super Z for years and it did a nice job, I now have a kit on my scag which is awesome ! I mow mostly tall fescue and think the striper is totally worth it ! The older kits that used rubber flaps would limit mobility in dips and loading but the newer roller type don't seem to have a drawback to them ! the visual effects are impressive and I get a ton of compliments!! here's a couple of pic's

Nice

If my customers yard looked like that after I mowed they would think something was wrong with my mower though

Nice stripes. I too love the Scag striper. Don't ask me how but I bent mine a few years ago and have not fixed it yet. Probably because the V+ deck does a great job on it's own. Maybe that will be my winter project.
