What are your thoughts on this?
My mom was a teacherClose. I have other family and friends who teach.
Again, if it's so easy, and cushy, and the money and benefits are so great, why not step up and do it? Especially if we need good teachers
Because I'm not looking to do what's easy. I'm looking to do what I love, and in the process figure out how to me make lots of money at it.Close. I have other family and friends who teach.

I'm 18 hrs sober beach n Pool life is goodI'm 18 months sober from McDonald's. It feels great!
cam take notes kiddo !! Get a government job with a big pension and vacation time son!! Give up that push mower and working until your 70.Well I mean, they work 9 months a year. Great benefits. Pay isn't bad. And a government pension when they retire. And they almost never get fired because they have a union protecting them.
But that doesn't mean it's for everyone, if you hate kids, politics or incompetent administrators it's not for you
I do 5-6 project by myself over the winter. The key to avoid exhaustion/injury is pacing yourself.Kinda hard to do hardscapes solo
It's labor intensive by nature
you could totally just use labor temps on a job by job basis however
So about 35K in us dollars?Personally? $250,000.
That's too much. That's double what a firefighter makes in my city on Vancouver Island. They are literally running into burning buildings every day, lucky to make it home most days and you are telling me they are worth half of what you are? no. I won't stand for it.Personally? $250,000.
That sounds simple! But reality is they don't make a lot .How much should the owner make ?=== a lot.
pretty simple I think.
I said it's hardI do 5-6 project by myself over the winter. The key to avoid exhaustion/injury is pacing yourself.
I think that depends on a lot of things. Most guys fail to plan, or plan to fail. That sounds simple! But reality is they don't make a lot .
It's important to have a work/life balance. It's so easy for this line of work to overrun you. It's a good time to be self employed because people are throwing money around like crazy... but it's too easy to fall into the trap. There are (tax) benefits to staying small and running a lean operation. Examples : being able to claim most of your cell phone bill for business / home office deduction / if your work truck is your personal truck then your not spending as much on payments & gas as the average person thnx to the payment interest & mileage write offs . There's also a certain freedom that comes w running this business (again as a small op) you can adjust your schedule around family events / occasions etc . Have to remind yourself it's your business and you can run it how you want to minimize your stress and wasted time. Really gotta land a cpl solid employees so you can take days off but I've always felt a smaller super efficient operation is the way to go. For example 3-4 guys w 2-3 trucks …one doing small lawns solo w a little Chevy s-10 and a stander making a killing per hour .
w truck and mower prices going sky high & the new mowers ar gas guzzlers I think it's going to be necessary to keep it basic or you won't be making much $ mowing.
I'll do my first $120k this yr (not including materials) w one employee but been mostly solo till last year. To keep things less stressful I stick to a routine. 20 minutes of paperwork after work & an hour to do billing once a month. 1 hour of maintenance a week usually I just start the day an hour early and get it done. I don't really answer texts after 6pm unless I feel like it / or if it's necessary they wait can till the next morning when I'm on "work" hours.
Just take weekends off. All good. It's important to have a work/life balance. It's so easy for this line of work to overrun you. It's a good time to be self employed because people are throwing money around like crazy... but it's too easy to fall into the trap.
But you are right, we need a work/life balance.
It's a labor of love, man!I said it's hard
Not impossible
Compared to something like mowing
It's pretty rough
I've done it
Not sure if I'd want to do that as a career for twenty plus years
