All,

Im new to the site and struggling with my lawn. I live in South Mississippi and my lawn is St. Augustine. I had a company do some grade work for me back in 18 and re-sodded my yard. Historically, I’ve been successful with Scott’s W&F (multiple rounds annually) along with spraying ortho weed killer(hose attached) with some spot spraying using Blindside. The weather has been a challenge this year to say the least. We experienced a 2 month drought with temperatures well above 100. I have an irrigation system that ran multiple times a day with Little success. Virginia Buttonweed has taken advantage of small patches of dry grass and is starting to take over. The weather has tempered down to a high of around 85 degrees.I’m looking for a good strategy to tackle the weeds heading into the Fall. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, you’ll want to apply in the morning prior to it heating up.

professionally I don’t recommend spraying after it gets to around 83-85, and most chemical labels will advises on appropriate temps. Homeowners seem to ignore this on a regular basis.

Are these the bottles you’re referring to?

Yes. Be very precise with the Metsulfuron, it’s a very strong chemical. Per 1k is .011oz. Hope you’re using a backpack and spraying lightly if you aren’t experienced. May want to get a kitchen scale and some tracker dye. MSM can be a life saver if used correctly. Don’t forget your surfactant.

All,

I received the chemicals in the mail but I want to run this by you before I spray. I can mix these 2 herbicides together? Change up is liquid and MSM Turf if powder. Can you help me confirm my 1 gallon and 5 gallon measurement for both chemicals? Thank you guys! @CANNINGTON TurfGRASS. @Grassfire205 @Jeff@diyokc
