My fellow lawn care professional. I've been landscaping professionally for 10 years, and cutting grass since the 80's. I'm almost 50, and my right side from my upper neck to the middle of my thorasic has a pain when I operate my Stihl backpack blower. I am a retired Marine, I used to own a CrossFit gym, drums since the late 80's, martial arts since the mid 90's (and still train jiu jitsu some now)...all that to say that I'm not weak and I know how to pick stuff up, I know how to move, and I am not handicapped; but it causes pain to do everything right handed (weed eat / trim, blower, chainsaw (Stihl MS391), pole saw, etc. I'm probably going to start playing drums left handed, and trying to do everything landscaping left handed. If you push through this kind of pain it's bad juju.

There are other situations, as well. You have shoulder surgery, you slice your hand open, you sprain or break your arm, you need someone to replace you for the day that's left handed. If there was an attachment to make my Stihl blower left handed I would buy it. I'm sure I could get a machine shop to make it but it would be cheaper to buy mass produced by someone that's already done all the engineering, testing, and paid the up front money to make the products.

I know there has been a discussion of if there is a left handed backpack blower on the market and the answer was no. I’m thinking of investing in a start up company that will be selling left handed backpack blowers and I wanted to see if anyone thought it would be a good investment or if homeowners or landscaping companies would be interested in buying the product when it is released on the market. This product wouldn’t be solely for left handed people but would give users the option to change between the left and right arm while using the blower. It would allow left handed people to use their dominant hand and also allow right handed people to receive a break if their right hand becomes tired. Again I’m just interested in who would actually by this product or if there’s a need for it in the market. Open to all comments, thanks
Its a small market for sure,
Im a lefty and most true lefties seldom notice the problem.
Now if some sort of retrofit kit could be designed to fit several machines you might have a better chance. Now when tou get this idea rilling I want 1% of sales, lol

There's a video done by Justin from Next Level Engineering who demonstrates an attachment converting a back pack blower from right handed to left. Perfect for me! However, I cannot find away of making contacting and ordering an attachment. Anyone out there can help? Please.

Maybe this thread should just be closed then...................not sure why my post are being deleted...............

yea theres no real reason to need a left hand blower, theres no fine motor skills or hand eye coordination involved, hand dominance doesnt play a roll... I Think this is just a pet peeve for you.
I beg to differ. Tell that to the people that ha e suffered a stroke and can't use their right side as good like my wife who really enjoys doing yard work but can't due to the lack of motion now with her right side. She is completely left handed. Someone really needs to think this over before a class action law suit comes . The ADA would love this.

The company was thinking of creating a left hand backpack blower but decided to go with just adding an attachable part to the blower instead. I thought it was a reasonable idea because when doing landscaping work my right arm often gets tired and I work by myself most days so i don't have time to be resting. I just thought it would be really convenient if I could switch to my between arms
What company has the attachment please ?
I have a client with a disability that prevents him from using his right hand at all. So he requires a left hand blower. He ended up with a hand held as he couldn’t find a left hand blower.

I have a disabled client who can not use his left hand and just found out how hard it is to find certain things left handed. Esp blowers. He had to buy a hand held as he could find any left handed operation blowers.
Ya not being able to use your left hand and finding left handed blowers would be very difficult.....

Well with the thousands and thousands of blowers being sold are right handed it doesn't make any sense or is financially feasible to make a tube or housing to fit that would sell maybe a hundred??

How many of those "thousands and thousands of blowers" from the dozens of brands out there have under a 10% market share? My guess is that the great majority of models don't reach that 10% slice of the pie, yet lefties make up as much as 15% of the population by some estimates. As I see it, it's not an issue with selling a hundred blowers. The potential market's much bigger than that. Left handed rifles have been a thing for a long time and will continue to be.

BUT, I don't see dealers dedicating very limited shelf space to left handed models, and that's where things go off the rails. Because if you can't handle a blower, you're not going to buy it.
