I planted these two blue spruces about 3 years ago along with 3 Arborvitae. All at the same time. All growing steadily with no issues. Fertilized the blue spruces every spring and fall with Hollytone. (The Arborvitaes received Planttone.)
This past winter, they started drooping. The only thing I changed was the fertilizer. I switched to Jobe's Evergreen Tree Fertilizer Spikes. (The Arborvitae continued to receive Planttone.)
So my thinking is that the problem is one of the following:
1. The new fertilizer is causing them to droop (and lose needles on the bottom)
2. The arborvitae roots are encroaching the blue spruce roots.
3. Something else that I'm not aware of (hence why I'm on this forum!)
I may have to move them. But before I do, I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks!
