John Deere Z830A with Kawasaki FX751V

My new to me Kawasaki Engine, CODE FX751V-AS04-R, E/NO FX751VA14537 is surging a bit, and it has backfired a few times.
I can't seem to find out how to get this fixed.
If anyone has some input I would greatly appreciate it.

Actually looks like a let an engine that sat for a while, then a JD mechanic change the carb, all fluids ect then I ran it low. I will clean out the tank and run some 93 octane through it as he suggested and see what happens.

Ok, so as the mechanic said I have added some 93 octane gas (6 gallons to an almost empty tank. Too wet right now in the morning to run it. It’s a new carb that he installed also. He mentioned it might be running a little lean. If someone can walk me through the adjustment I would appreciate it. I will try that if the 93 and seafoam doesn’t work.
