There's an old saying JLH52, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

You've had zero troubles up to this point, if I were you I would keep doing exactly what you've been doing up to this point and not change a thing!
I may do exactly as you say. It all depends on the Mobil 1 lab analysis from Blackstone. When they evaluate the TBN in the Mobil 1, I'll know more about the longevity of the oil and if it needs changing or not.

If the life of the oil is about to expire I'll change to Amsoil. If the TBN is high I may keep using Mobil 1.

Understanding TBN is helpful in knowing the condition of your oil. I'm not uptight or worried about it, I just like to read, research and learn.

Waaaaay to much thinkin on a very simple subject.......
Indeed.

Every time I see these "super-duper oil" threads it reminds me of guys who just can't sleep at night unless they have the latest, greatest, lab-tested gun lube for their firearms, and they will pay any amount to have "the best" for their guns.
Freakin' guns from a hundred years ago are still in use - and in excellent condition - having never seen any of these modern "wonder-lubes". I wonder how that is possible?

Really?? If you worked the same amount of time spent on what to work with.......well you'd make more money anyway....

I'm not interpreting any of this as anyone getting hung up on anything.

Can't a person be interested in things and research them because the topic is interesting to them? If not, I need to leave lawnsite completely! My entire premise for being here is that I like to go down lawn care rabbit holes a little further than the average Joe.

A lawn care nerd if you will :)

Crazy 4 grass !!!

Nothing wrong with nerding out! My neighbors expect this from me... yeah, the same guy who skydives, has a major speed addiction and has won 2 Tuff Man contests, has a nerdy side and they say it's just Bob doin Bob things when they see me out there getting SPL measurements to determine actual true sound levels... or something to that affect... LOL

Is it important life altering info? Probably not, but if he enjoys it, has the time and money to do it and then report his results back on Lawnsite? WHY NOT?? I find this kind of information fascinating!

I think that some of you have "crossed the line"...hehe
Anything that wears out needs to be replaced anyway so why not go over "mil spec" anyway?...I feel better with better products for the machines that make me alot of money...
I rarely have had a mechanical breakdown and when I have, I treat it like a learning opportunity rather than a curse....

I wonder what the Blackstone analysis says. I doubt there would be too much deviation from factory spec, maybe zinc breakdown or a bit of steel from wear surfaces.

I've used Blackstone for automotive oils, they get so much hotter..

Have you ever got hung up on which trimmer line worked best for you or did you try different lines before deciding?
Yup!!

I started buying smaller amounts of the different lines I wanted to try. This past season, I put one kind on the battery trimmer, and a different kind on my gas trimmer.... and then I kept my mouth shut for a few days waiting to hear my kid say, "Did you put a different trimmer line on my trimmer? This stuff sucks/is great!" Never a word from him. He just went and worked his trimmer like he always does.

In the end, I know the BD or FL does fine (although for ME, I tend to have to bump out line more often with the BD) and the stuff that's on there now worked great for the latter half of the season +/- a few weeks.
