My compressor is randomly shutting down. Some times it will die three times in one blowout. Then it might do 3 blowouts with out missing a beat. I am hoping someone has delt with this before. After it shuts down I can immediately restart it. Seams that if it was a heat issue it wouldn't restart right away. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a similar issue. I believe that it is overheating and shutting down. Make sure the radiator is full. Also I realized that the fan pushes air out vs pulling it in. Since it pushes air out, the radiator was somewhat clogged from the inside. With a garden hose and a nozzle, I washed the radiator off the best I could from the inside under the engine compartment. This made a huge difference and it now only shuts off on a rare occasion and on a warm day. The hoses also tend to get quite hot occasionally.

Thank you for all the help. The manual is a huge blessing. I thought that the cooler may be causing the trouble so I washed it. But no improvement. I shorted the oil pressure switch, the temperature switch and the fuel level switch. It still randomly dies. The only thing left according to the manual is the alternator. Will a failing alternator work fine for a random amount of time and then drop voltage? According to the manual if the alternator voltage drops below a certain point then the engine will shut down. I would appreciate any insight as to if this is the likely problem.

Thanks for the manual! You really helped me a lot. By the way, I recently found a great online editor in an article pdfguru.com/blog/pdf-history-and-future about the evolution of PDF with the rise of AI. I’m currently using it when working with manuals if I need to make some edits for myself. I recommend checking it out if you also use various tools for working with PDFs.
