0 to Full Time in one season

    Has anybody that is a solo op ever started from 0 clients to full time in one season? Obviously this would require a lot of marketing, but just curious if anyone has done anything like this before and if you think it is possible.

    Very possible. Depends on your location though. We started at zero and had just under 400 in 6 months. Wasn't solo though.

    Yea, We did it in a NEW area, But we went from zero to having to hire a guy.

    if you have the money to market the hell out of an area and the time to do all the estimates ts possible.

    Do all your estimates online, no need to go see the property in most cases, unless your dealing with very old neighborhoods with lots of mature trees.

    Yes, I did it a few years ago when moving down here. My advise is make sure your cash reserves are in place to support your family while you are getting up and going. The work is out there but I think one of the reasons any small business is likely to fail is because they over estimated what they would really need in start up capital. Let's be serious and understand that getting into this industry can be very cheap when compared to other industries.....but that does not mean your house or car note gets any cheaper. Figure on several months of 0 income....more than likely that will not the case but plan for the worst.
    As far as advertising ....do not go to crazy....yellow pages and other sources are expensive and IMHO are not your best ROI. Flyers are cheap but I think also speak to your potential customers before you do, and how does another piece of paper in the door say about you?
    Doorhangers professionally designed are the best value for your money IMHO

    I started a buisness last year a co-ownership we started out of pocket and went from no clients to working every day of the year by mid march of our first year. When you are just starting you can afford to cut grass cheaper than the companys with 4 crews dont be afraid to compete with the large companys it cost a lot more for them to do a job than it would for you. good luck.
