Looking to buy truck for mowing and some around town driving. Found an 05 Ford V10, it does have 242K. Was used to pull trailer weekly. Not sure about buying something with that kind of milage. What are your opinions on something like that. I do have my personal truck when not mowing/working.

Thanks...

I love my 01 V10 with 264k on the clock, runs like a champ. However, the mileage is the horrible. I just got a 01 Dodge 2500 with the cummins and it gets more than double the MPG. That said it does cost more the fix and the fuel is a bit more but in the long run it is the best for me.

01 F250 V10 auto- 6-8 MPG winter, 8-10 summer.
01 Dodge 2500 5speed 14-16 winter, 18-20 summer.

The miles make me a little nervous, but its gunna be for mowing. At 264k have you had any major repairs, I guess a motor could have issues at 50k. Any thing I should look at for?
Thanks..

The ford V10 great engine. Better than the 6.0 of the same vintage. The miles might be a sticking point. But it could easily run for anothe 100K without any trouble.

I think 05 was the year they went to the 3valve engine. Fuel mileage was a little better than the previous V10.

Thanks for the info....truck is in great shape. Almost looks too good. Interior has wear like normal wear from driving. Had a goose neck hitch, looks like the hooked trailer and drove cross country...I'm probably going to look at it tomorrow. Get more info... Any other info on V10's would be great...

No I have not had a problem with the engine, I have had to replace 6 of the coils but that is it on the engine. I have also replaced all of the baljoints, tierods, hubs, brake pads, calipers, roters, steering box, steering pump, ujoints. Moast of that trying to fix a Ford fluke that was never fixed.

Truck runs like a champ...good price at $10,000. Gunna be hard to not buy, most things I'm finding are priced much higher or have crazy miles. Just gunna be a mow truck and some around town stuff.
