06 Ford F350 6.0 ??

    6.0 discontinued after next year, I had a salesman talk me out of one - his quote "garbage". Told me to go with a 7.3, or another make.

    Have 03 crew cab, lb 4x4 with 38000miles. No problems and if I drive it right can get 20mph on hwy. Stop and start eats mileagage in a hurry.

    Whew, what a bunch of opinions on one topic.

    If you read up on this engine's history, you will definitely find huge early problems. The '03's were a terrible lot. Buying one is a definite risk. The '04's were considerably better but still had mainly injector issues. The '05's and '06's have been great and you can even get an '07 right now.

    I had an '01 7.3 and loved it but the cam sensor issues they're famous for got on my nerves. Two breakdowns in one year did it for me. So I finally bit the bullet and bought a 6.0 last year and it's been awesome. We've pulled our 30' travel trailer to Disney and other big trips plus it's one of my work trucks. It's been flawless for 21K now.

    As for the 6.4 in '07, IMO I'd wait a year or so. First year jitters at Ford haven't been too positive. :laugh:

    I have 11,000 miles on my 2006 F350 6.0L deisel dump truck. It has tremdous power. I am constantly in and out of 4 wheel drive. I have hauled 5 tons of stone in it. The truck is almost unstoppable. I have only had a blown fuse for the trailer lights go on me. That is it for trouble. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. The only thing I would change is I would get a 450 or 550 if I could afford it. This is my first Ford Truck and I am very pleased.

    Mark, I just took one for a test drive and was NOT impressed what so ever!!!!!!!! My neighbor's 05 3/4 Dodge with a Cummings Turbo Diesel would eat this thing alive!!!!!!!! And I just bought a F-250SD. But honestly Mark I thought it was a slug!!!!!! First they have a cast iron block and aluminum heads, trust me that doesn't make for long term use. There were a few other little things but all in all again, I was not impressed. When I test drove it I hammered it and you could hear the turbo kicking in but the acceleration was not there at all or at least, where it should be. I love my new Ford but if its a deisel you are set on I would strongly suggest a GM (Duramax) or a Dodge. Good luck. PM me if you have any questions.:waving:

    Cummins all the way with a manual (or modified automatic). the duramax has really proven itself. actually i have family/friends with the 6.0...with good and bad (one had an 03 with big rear main seal leak traded for new 04 - not a problem).

    i still say cummins- mufflerless too!:weightlifter: :cool2:

    i had a 2004 350 psd and had nothing but problems in a year it was doewn more than 2 months, injectors wiring harness and computer. traded it in march and got 06 350 psd 5000 miles no problems yet. all in all ok truck. the duramax has aton more power and is a lot more quiet. if your are going to buy a ford buy it now before new motor. take a couple years to work problems out again.

    I bought an f-350 dump 4x4 with a 6.0 new in aug of 2004. I now have 34k working miles on it and haven't had one problem as of yet. I love the truck! I also have a 2000 f-250 7.3 and also like it. But the 6.0 is hands down more powerful and you gotta love the sound of the 6.0. It reminds me of a jet. I would recommend a post 2003 6.0 to anyone.

    had a 03 6.0 was junk 7 injectors, 1 turbo. Had to put a chip in for bottom end power. Now i have 06 and now have 12k miles on it with out problem. Bottom end is better than 03 but still lacks to what my 00 with 7.3 had. How ever it is borderline weather i chip it or not, i probably wont and all 3 trucks was the 6 sp. manual. I would still let the new 6.4 be out for at least 2 years before i bought one. i stick with fords because they have the best front ends. I plow snow boss v plow and pull bobcat around and still get 75,000 out of front brake pads and ball joints. I think the durmax and the cummins are still the best engines. But really you cant buy a good truck as far as im concerned they all have there issues. My pick would be a ford 350 with the cummins engine and allison tranny.
