07' Dodge 3500?

    Any one have one of these with the new 6.7? Looking at one today, 15000 miles one owner. First year engine changes make me nervous! Thanks for any info -

    I'd go with the 6.7L. I don't own one, but looked into one. However, diesel is just 10x more oomph and extra costs than I need for my business right now. The 6.7 is similar to the 5.9L but can be made more powerful as the competition ramps up.

    stock trim agains a 5.9 the 6.7 wont get the fuel millage atleast thats what my freind that now owns 2 says, i looked into buying a 6.7 but i belive ill stay with the 5.9 for what i want it for.

    I agree. I'd get a 5.9L if I could find one with low mileage and no signs of abuse (yeah, right). The 6.7L for '07 has the same HP ratings of the outgoing 5.9L only because Dodge didn't want to go to powerful too fast after adding displacement. Frankly, I think it was a good move as more HP can lower long term durability and reliability. Earlier 5.9L I6 engines from a decade or two ago could go well into the million mile range without much of a fuss. Still, Dodge left the HP rating alone so they have some flexibility when the time comes to increase HP, then they won't have to alter displacement to do so. For 2012, I can see Dodge putting more power out to better stay in line, if not beat the competition.

    The 6.7 is a good engine and I wouldn't worry about if I bought one. The 6.7 is mated to the new 6 speed 68rfe automatic, which is basically a generic copy of the 6 speed Aisin automatic offered behind the 6.7 in the Chassis Cab models. It's a nice upgrade over the 48re behind the 5.9, and it has the manual shift mode like the Allison. When the 6.7 was introduced in 07' it came in at 350 hp/650 tq, which was about right in line with the other manufacturers new engines. The outgoing 5.9 of 07' was rated for 325 hp/610 tq, which is no slouch by far.
