Okay guys i have to decided on what trailer size to buy. I am looking at the Haulmark Kodiak. The 8.5 has the wheel wells on the inside while the 7 has it on the inside. The real question is which one is going to be less of a pain to tow? Would you say i am better off going longer or wider? I really do not want to buy a 16x7.

    Thanks Matt

well if you mean easier on the truck? im not sure...

but eaiser to drive? the 18footer. the 7x18 would be awsome. if that is 7ft on the inside. If its like 6ft on the inside, i would pass it up and get the 16.

But if it is 7ft on the inside, then get it. Also, longer the trailer eaiser it is to drive and backup. IMO.

    Hope this helps! :waving:

In my expereince -- longer -- under 20 feet -- doesn't make a big differnce in daily towing -- but wider can be much harder -- less wiggle room in the lanes -- harder to get between parked cars -- etc.

I was looking at 7x16 for like 3,900 then I found a few month old 8.5 x 18 for the same price.... Guy was looking to unload quickly. I am so happy I ended up with the bigger trailer... The 8.5x18 fills up a lane pretty good but no worries... Backing the thing up is easy to.. I had a 6X12 that was so squirelly when backing up...

I like the 7s better myself. Much easier to see around and will fit a 72" or a 60" with Vac attached.

My 7x14 with the wheels outside is wider than my 8x14 with the wheels in the box. As far as room inside the 8x14 wins!!! Up front I can put a 36 and a 48 side x side and still fit a 60"Z behind and still put my 21" sideways behind that. Also walking past the Z to get to the front is a lot better because I don't kill my back on the racks.
I always pull these trailers with the dually, so the width does not matter when driving.
