    ok guys,

I just bought from a home owner a 48wb scag with a 17hp kawasaki. It wasnt running and i paid 100 bucks for it. I got it going but it runs like crap. Gas leaks from the crab. just dripps out. I took it off and cleaned it with carb and choke cleaner. but put it back on and fired it up and it ran like crap and still leaking gas. any help with this one?????

Hold the float with a finger and thumb and shake it briskly to make sure it doesn't have a pin hole allowing fuel to enter. (not likely on the plastic float but could). If thats fine replace the float needle valve, Check the tank for trash/water, Flush fuel lines and replace fuel filter.

Double check the main jet making sure it's fully open while into it, Also check the plug. If it's been running rich it could have fouled it out.

Just to add to Rob's advice-
If a carb has been leaking to that extent, also check the oil for signs of fuel.
If you can smell gas or it seems excessively thin, change it before firing it up. (after your carb repair).
