In your alls opinion, which engine is the better choice in that year? I always liked the 24V better.

You cant get a 12v in 99...So 24v it is. 98 was the split year.

Yes the motor in a 99 is a 24v cummins. I have a 12v cummins, if it is a cummins its a great platform, just a few problems here and there. With a 24v in a 99 with the VP44 injection pump if you end up getting it buy a Airdog 150 Lift pump it will save your Injection pump and get rid of the crap stock lift pump!

The 12v has got to be the most indestructable engine ever put in a light truck. The 24v will get you more power out of the box with out screwing around and still be reliable. However has CaseBoy said, put in an AirDog 150 or FASS150 lift pump before the injector pump gets starved and takes a dump on you. Also, get the BD Diesel Perf. Low supply fuel pressure warning light. It will save you thousands of dollars if your lift pump does croak.
