I have never owned a Ford but in search for a truck with a dump bed I have come across a 1999 Ford F-550 4x4 with a manual transmission and a Powerstroke engine. The truck has a 14ft PTO driven hydralic dump and overall is in very good shape. It has 210,000 miles on it and the asking price is $11,000. It was used to deliver construction materials and does not appear to be abused in any way. Does $11k sound like a decent price for this truck?

I would really like to puchase another Cummins powered Dodge truck but finding this Ford has me thinking a little.

    Thanks for your help.

Check the SCA content of the radiator first, this will tell you if the engine is good and ready for more work or not. If it has no SCA or very little, run for the hills, this engine will probably have some form of cavitation. If the SCA checks out ok as well as the rest of the truck, then I wouldn't have a problem giving them the $11000.

I am scared of powerstrokes just out of warranty. I would be really scared about 210k. If it was fleet maintained that would make me feel a little better.

Is was part of a fleet at the contractor supply yard but I don't know if that makes much of a difference to me. It appears the price is not necessarily all that special so I guess I will pass on it. It's too bad they did not put a Cummins in a 550, it would have been a no brainer for me then :)

    Thanks for the help.
