I am in the market for a new work truck. I can only afford to spend about 5K right now. I found a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 mag V8 with 170,000 miles on it. They are asking $4500 for the truck. I drove it and it seems to be in decent mechanical condition. It does need new tires! What do you guys think? Do you think I could do better? I currently am using a '95 Ford Explorer with a V8 -2wd, but I have purchased a 6.5 x 16 trailer and don't know how well the Explorer will do. What do you all recomend? Thanks!!!!

I would try to get some history on the truck like service records. With that many miles on a 2000 I am guessing alot of highway driving which fine. If the body is good and the truck seems tight, I might go for it. $4500.00 does not buy much these days so be careful

I'd go for it as long as the body is solid and the transmission is in good working order you are getting a good deal.
