You will hate a 5’ tailgate unless you bi-fold it. The wind drag is atrocious. Take my word for it.

Great thanks for the feedback. The gate is already 4’, would it make sense to cut it at 3’/2’?

It does for me because I travel far and don’t want drag. Bi-fold is nice too because it can give you a better ramp depending on parking. Sometimes the trailer isn’t on flat and the rear is higher. Sometimes lower.

Lol! Which one? We license 6 trailers and I have a super nice custom built 18’ tandem 16k that I never finished building in the shed. I need to finish it.

This one. It’s new this year. It went in to the welding shop to get a tailgate made, but they never even started on it. It sat there a month. I took it in because I was busy rebuilding a truck we bought and didn’t have time. I’m going to make a 6’ bi-fold for it, but probably not until after season. Just ran out of time and season went full swing. Right now I’m just using a ramp I made out of spare 2x10’s. It’s a PITA!!! Trailer came with 2 hide away ramps, but those don’t work on 3 wheeled machines. The trailer I don’t have finished in the shed has a split full width bi-fold 6’ ramps covered in expanded metal. We may get it finished and switch it to the mowing trailer. This one (below) isn’t quite heavy enough for carrying the grass bin loaded.

I’ll be the one guy that says don’t exceed 20 feet. 16-18 is a good length.
