Just purchased a FIMCO 25GAL sprayer with the 140" boom. I'm looking for suggestions on where/how to mount it to my 60" Z mower. I thinking of having the welder fabricate something that mounts just like our soft bagger. It obivously needs to come off relatively easy so I can spray one day and mow the next. But obviously I'm looking for suggestions. FYI, I also have the ability to place it on a 48" WB unit that I no longer use.

I tried searching this site but can't seem to find any pictures or anything. I am going to use the idea of the bicycle speedometer I found through this site (THANKS!!) so I can try and keep my speed as constant as possible.

Thanks in advance for any insight.:waving:

This is something that I had a while back. With one 9/16 wrench, it could be taken off in 5 minutes.

The second pic is speed control that lets you look forward or run inches away from a fence without looking at a speedometer. Its totally consistent and you can set of bolts for different gpas.

I just purchased the same sprayer recently, and one side note is to check the nozzles for spray uniformity. After reading many suggestions from others, i decided to calibrate and not rely on the manuf. Glad i did, because there were three different nozzles on my sprayer from the factory. Spray amounts for each nozzle were all over the place.

A call in to Fimco and i got 7 new 8002 Tee Jet nozzles, on them. I also purchased the no drip valves too. Without them, it was dripping like crazy after the pump was shut off.

Just a suggestion.

Nice Set up with some actual planing. I have a similar speed control on my Walker Ric-A-Green. The Ric-A-Green also has a Slot where a Lesco Truckster(Granular Spreader) will slide in.

Do a Search here at LS around 2002. There are many "Homemade-A-Green" pictures and set ups. At that time the specialized Spread-N-Spray machines weren't as popular. If you already have a good mower, WHY not use it. BTW Walk Behinds can work also, there are pictures of those also.

Thanks Ric. I was doing some searches but wasn't coming up with much. I think the bicycle speedometer I received from one of your posts...thanks again:)

Some other questions that I have come up with that maybe some people can enlighten me on and provide some suggestions or personal experience...

A lot of my accounts are hilly, granted they can be cut with my 60 ZTR fine but not sure when I place a 25gal sprayer mounted up high on it. The other questions is would there be any benefit/downsides to mounting the sprayer in front of the mower as opposed to the rear of the mower.

Another thought...my WB that we don't use is a hydro unit with a speed setting. Its much easier to control speed with my WB than my Z. Thoughts??

Search "STONE-A-GREEN" it is a W/B with the tank low on the deck and the Boom is on a Jarco tool bar. Here in Flat land country we do not have as many hills as possible in others areas. The Stone-A-Green is run in the Hills of N.E. Penna and I am told does well on hills. BTW I plan on being in N.E. Penna sometime in July for a short visit.

Ha, i was just going to mention the "STONE-A-GREEN". he had some cool inventions.

Something else that a sprayer/spreader would work good on, is a stand up mower like a Quick trak, Wright, etc. Would be great for hills. I know on the John Deere units you can adjust the levers easily to control your speed.

Stone you either like or hate and nothing in between. But He has mellowed quite a bit in the last 5 years or so. $ 79 one way from my little local airport to his little local Airport. No parking fees and no large Airport security to hassle with big time. 5 days and 4 nights in the Mountains of Penna will be a welcome week end out of the Florida's July humidity. I will of course pack my long johns because it can be quite cold at night in the mountains.

I have a similar spray rig, the tank is mounted on the front deck with a boom on the back. This setup is dangerous on hills, the momentum and additional weight will cause the mower to go wherever it desires. No control when going downhill. Overall I get very good results, calibration is critical as long as same speed is maintained.

The normal Bicycle speedometer is designed for the average 26 wheel. Your mower may have a 12 tall tire at most. Your reading will not be an accurate speed, but the important thing is a constant speed.

From what I understand I would just use the "speedometer" to make sure I'm running at a constant speed. I would have to calibrate my 'acutal' speed by measuring a distance and using a stopwatch...correct???

Hey ric, I heard an internet rumour that Stone is being considered for an advisor to Obama? Can you confirm or deny it? I just wanna know so I can plan on the coming explosion.
Cantoo

Gee that is news to me. For almost the last 3 years Stone has been working for some guy named Stephen Harper and making big money. I am not sure what he does for him, but Stone keeps laughing about what every it is.

Ric, maybe Stoney was behind the pesticide ban here?
cantoo

What the heck, they blame Stone for everything else, Why not the pesticide ban?
