I have never used either engine and wanted to know which one is the best.
Dependability, durability, & power. I would guess the fuel injected Kohler would go farther on a tank of gas, but what else should I consider? Which engine would you go with ?
I'm looking at the articulating mowers at www.lastec.com

The articulators have one hell of a price tag on them incase you didnt know that.

That said, the 28 will be plenty for a 61'' deck and will be more responsive as well as seem to have as much power as the 32 because it is fuel injected. Along with that are the normal differences, no choking on startup, no bogging, smoother running, etc. I would get the 28 but make sure your local dealer has the equipment and diagnostics required to repair fuel injected kohlers.

The 28 efi has more torque than many larger engines and uses alot less fuel than the generac. I hear Dixie owners complain of the amount of fuel the generac uses though they say it's a good engine.

I have the Kohler 26 EFI on one 60" Lazer and a 28EFI on the other 60" Lazer. Both have lots of nice smooth power for the 60" deck. Having had the EFI Kohlers, I will not go back to carbureted if I can help it. Smooth easy starts, no cold bloodedness, instant response if you get into anything super heavy.

These things sip gas. I use a fraction of the fuel I used to use running 18HP carbureted Kohlers on 3 wheel Ransomes Bobcats.

Personally I prefer air cooled engines, so the 28EFI comes through again. A quick blow-off with the hand blower at the end of the day and all of my cooling system maintenance is done! No coolant to maintain, no water pump, no cooling fans, no bulky radiator taking up space or getting plugged. There is a lot to be said for keeping it simple.

So, for me it would be a no-brainer - the 28 EFI Kohler!

I'd go with the 28. Less fuel usage because it's efi, kohlers are more common, I've never used or even been near a generac.

I used the 28efi for the first time today, that thing is a hoss! It didn't even bog once all day, going up hills while mowing isn't a problem, slamming on the brake (sticks) it just keeps on going doesn't get all weird choking out, no choke to deal with, just turn the key.

Lawnmaniac The 61" is about the same price as a 757 deer . Thanks for the imput I was leaning toward the Kohler but never had the efi before.
