302 won't idle

cutting edge

I have a 1990 F150 with the fuel injected 302. The engine does not seem to be idling high enough (around 500 rpm) and cuts off frequently. I even have to brake with my left foot and keep my right on the gas to keep it from shutting down at red lights. Any suggestions to a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Before changing any sensors take the previous members advice
have the truck checked out with a scanner. If the evp/ o2 are bad the computer will pickup immediately. If you want do some preliminary work remove the tube running up to the egr valve check and make sure that the egr pintle is seated
properly and not all gummed up with carbon. Also check and make sure the valve is working by sucking on the air hose leading to the valve. Other things to check feul filter, take it off the frame and make sure you can easily blow through it. check the air filter. Is the truck running on all cylinders? check the wires for loose or arking. Make sure to cover all the basics before you start changing sensors. Hope this helps.
