Anyone run a 61" super surfer? I just started cutting with mine last week and I'm having a terrible time with scalping on any sort of small bump or hill. I have the deck set at 5"!! and still scalping, any way to get around this?

You have it set at 5 inches or setting 5? I usually run my surfers on setting 6 or 7 and rarely do the scalp.

I put the pins on the number 5 setting my dealers mechanic told me that this was how to adjust the height of the cut. I assumed that 5 would mean 5 inches but when I cut it's considerable shorter. What number do I set the pins to cut at around 3.5"?

I agree with jc1, you need to try it at 6 or 7 and that should get you the results you need.

All of my mowers, no matter what brand have this issue. You just cant avoid it. A self adjusting contoured deck would be nice but is not in the works for any manufacturer. Yes, my GD-SS is a bit more than others because the max height adjustment is 4.5 inches ( blade to turf ).
