Well guys I've tried asking toro and tried asking stens tech experts and no one can give me a yes or no answer so now I'll ask the guys that I probably should have asked first. I have a toro 62" deck and i know my blade length is 21 1/2 inches but the only blade I can get with a 1/2 inch center hole is a 21 inch blade, question is will the shorter blade work or will there not be enough overlap. Has anyone else had this problem. Please help. thanks :dizzy:

I would think a 1/2" underlap would be too much. I have never ran shorter than spec'd blades on any mowers before, so I really don't know firsthand, but I would venture to guess there would be stringers all over the place. What's that 62" deck on? Tonyr from OZ(Australia :) ), runs toro, switched to Raptors this summer, maybe he could point you in the right direction to finding the correct length blade. Let's gooooooooo Mountaineers!!

Thanks and G'Day Impact. :waving:

Raptors...you are right, I am very fond of them, even great results when side discharging. a couple indepth threads about them here, search for RAPTOR.

I have a 60'' turbo force deck, I'm thinking homerescue that yours is an SFS deck?

On your deck I don't know what the cut overlap is , mine is 1.5 '', personally I would not run shorter than oem spec blades, even though I'd guess you will still have overlap, they won't perform as well due to different vacume pressures under the deck, imo.

shame the centre hole wasn't 5/8''....then you would be laughin'!

OK, another great blade very similar is Exmark's "wavey" blade, go back to the index page of this forum and go into where the sponsors are, enter the Exmark section and ask Terry if he can see if Exmark has a blade to fit.
Or go to the Exmark web site and look at their blade specs catelog...

good luck!

G'day,Tony! I knew if I threw your name out there, you'd find it!! Raptors make fine brown killers, too eh? I don't think homerescue would have to worry 'bout that here in WV. :D Take it easy mate!!

I've got the same deck and I had to go with Gators because, "They don"t make a raptor for the 62 in deck" (That's what I was told anyway). You could try a different size blade but if it were me I would stick to the OEM sizing.

G'Day Impact mate!

Mate, those bloody browns...shudder to think, they will turn and stand up to you, very mean! They will actually chase you, outrun the average man too they say. Pretty safe of the Toro though LOL!

Our season kicks off next month, no doubt I get to chase these buggers again...

Let us know Homer if Exmark "wavey blade" (very similar to raptor) is available in your required size.
