Just curious if anybody else has gotten a recall notice for these trucks. I just got mine for my 99, however it states that it is only for the 97 to 03 7.3's. My 96 has ate 3 CPS's that I can think of off the top of my head in the last 3 years/60k miles, but not covered in the recall. Has anybody taken there truck in for this yet, and if so, what do they do to cure this notorious problem?

I took my 99 in last Friday. They told me it would take about 30 minutes so I just waited. About 45 minutes later they told me they replaced the CPS because it had the old style. I asked them if this was a expensive item since I had heard of them going bad but never had to replace one. There answer was that they used to be sort of expensive but now that there is a recall the part is about 16 dollars to keep the warrenty cost down.

The CPS used to cost about 60 bucks on ebay now they are down to anywhere from 12 - 20 dollars. The newer ones are built a little heavier duty. A lot more like the International ones.

If you replace it yourself make sure you put it on right and do not over tighten it! Thats what my local dealer did so it had to be replaced again.

I was under the impression that all 7.3's were covered. My buddy is a tech at a Ford dealership, he's done 10 commercial fleet vehicles and who knows how many private owner trucks already. Glad Ford is stepping up to solve that problem.

i figured my 96 would be too, but the recall notice i got specifically said for "your 1997 to 2003 7.3 Powerstroke diesel". Right before i got the notice i bought a new sensor for the 96, as it was going out again, and though what the hell, for $16 I'll get a spare for the 99 too. They showed a different part number for the two trucks, but every other time I've picked one up, they said it didn't matter what year so long as it was a 7.3 Powerstroke. The 99's sensor is gray and the 96's is black, i think that is just cuz of the recall. The CPS's that Ford sells are the same as international, ford buys theirs from international.
