A guy from my church, called me and asked me to bid on a 7 acres park with 2 retention ponds. Since I've got 38 yards to mow, and I'm a solo op I wasn't going to bid on it. Especially since I only have a 48" Bradley and a 36" snapper. Yes I could have rent something until I could get something bigger ,but I didn't want to do that. Anyways I see the guy Sunday at church and I figured I would ask how much the winning bid was. I was going to price at $350. He told me that 2 lco both bid $300. So they got in a bidding war. The final winning bid was $220.I couldn't believe that price. That's the kind of crap I'm putting up with in northern Ohio. That includes trimming also.Would any one else mow that much for so little?

It is kinda like an auction. Some people leave their brains at the door.

There is no job I have ever bid that I wanted bad enough to lose money on.

I feel your pain here in East Liverpool, Ohio. Some of the companies here are working for nearly nothing. I refuse to lower standards. Quality will come out on top.

$220 comes out to $62.50/ hr in my book using a 52" or 60" ZTR.

    Not exactly lowballing................

I'd probably be around the $250 mark. Two people.. two hours.. equals $62.50/hr per man

Heck I would do it for 200 easy and it is advertisment for all of the little old ladies in the church when they know how nice of a job you do then they ask you to do theres. There is more at stake doing a church than doing an individual house. I don't see it as stupid at all, they could get another 10 money making jobs easy off this one. Sounds like an extremely smart business decision.

Then again I am a kid, what do I know?

I guess you should be thankful that you can achieve those numbers then.

I'm not interested in any more big jobs (solo). $315 and I'm not budging.
