I got a call asking if I could come cut her yard just the first time of this season. They have their own mower just want me to do the first cut. Its about an acre corner lot with a ditch around the whole thing. Only able to use trimmer or push mower to cut the ditch. They don't want any trimming or blowing done as of right now. Just a run over with my mower. From my house its about 20 miles one way (32 minutes). I figure my truck gets around 10mpg towing trailer and mowing equipment. Gas is around $3.70 right now. Would you even do it? Its one of my regular's sister.

I also wouldn't touch it. Certainly not for $80. Depends on how desperate you are I guess, I'm paying employees overtime already to work a tight route.

What would you charge if the grass was already under control?

Take that rate and multiply it by however many weeks it has been now that it SHOULD have been cut and add some MORE on top of it for the abuse it's going to put on you and your mower.
