Am looking at a 99 Chevy CK3500 6.5 Turbo Diesel 4 door, single rear wheels. I've heard conflicting reports on whether this truck will handle an 8 ft Fisher mm. Can someone give me the straight dope. Right now we plow with a 85 CK3500 Diesel dump and a 97 Chevy Ck 2500 Ext.cab gas with no problems. Some guys have told me the diesel is too heavy along with the 4 doors... ?

You want the scoop, chevy says you cant plow with it,the front axle is 4500 lbs,it will be overloaded.Yes a plow will fit on it,and you'll probably have to lie about what its going on and install it yourself for liability reasons..It will probably drag the front end on the ground sagging, unless you use Timbren load boosters,or crank the heck out of the bars.My uncle has a 96 2500 excab diesel 8 ft box with a Boss 8'2" V,and the F60 HD springs,it sags real bad, bottomed out when the plow is on,but he's got 100K on the truck, and has had zero front end trouble with it since new.

Be careful with it, though, because the '97 frame SURE won't stand up to the forces that the '85 will.:blob4:

I doubt he would hurt the frame or anything else for that matter. If my uncle didnt hurt his with a 880 lb plow,in 100K,of plowing/farm us/abuse,I doubt anyone will hurt them.I dont think he would hurt anything on 99,it wo=ill just be overloaded, and sag a lot.

I might be wrong but I think on the chevy's it is either a C2500 or K2500 (or whatever size). I think the C means 2 wheel drive (rear) and the K means 4 wheel drive.
