Well, I got to clear about a 1/2 acre yesterday, and took some pics. We used a case 580L 4x4... Now that most of the heavier stuff is cleared I have to mow all the taller grass and crap back at the back of the lot.

Overview of the job-

The brush piles-

The 580-

There was supposed to be some barn wood in those piles, but I didn't see any. If there was i should have saved it but what was left was rotted and falling apart... And I AM NOT going to pick through the pile to get it.

Sorry Ozz, the only reason I'd take a TLB or track loader is to trade in on a big skid or excavator.:)
Whatever. When I can do the work of 4 guys installing gas line and I have 3 guys on site, have fun with that.

Anyway, a trackloader and winch with a guy on a saw is the ultimate clearing tool too. Theyre also good at pond work.

Got the new Construction Equipment today and I know Ozz is giddy after reading this, http://www.constructionequipment.com/article/CA6720646.html?text=973d 62,000 pounds of hurt, what is the price tag for this animal? :weightlifter:
Why yes,yes I was... I saw a 73C in louisville once... I was personally scared as hell. Too much you could do with a TL that size...

I'd rather see Dressta (once Dresser/IH) come back out with the old Dresser series tho... Much easier to work on.

The price tag will probably close to that of a D8T or D9T... Whatever that is now.

Using a tire to start a fire was common practice around here not anymore that can land you some serious fines. If your suspected of burning a tire your fire will be put out and inspected for steel cord or you will get inspected after your fire has burned out.

The enviroment/Forestry inspectors look for tire cords and they also look for the metal handles off of 5 gallon oil buckets.

To burn a machine piled fire you need a permit from the fire dept a permit from the forestry (govt) you can only burn when the weather is raining or overcast.

100% correct, minus the overcast thing. As if everyone didn't know already.

Yall will have to excuse the 100% southerner, he hasnt seen anything but sweet gum, pine and scrub oak his entire life..

6' mower small on that?? I'd mow that in about 8 minutes.
Don't be fooled, there's prolly 2 acres behind that brush. It's on a tractor and I'm used to about a 20' mower deck with a 150 horse tractor. I'm using a 50 horse and a 6 foot mower... Just feels small.

Ozz, I didn't know you were rolling PowerTan/VTS style?
Yep... I do when I'm not in the hoe or on a saw. It's so nice it's not funny. Ride control, high flow, cab (It's not in now, being the it's 70 degrees) AND,It's my baby full time during snow...

I like a man that has great taste in equipment.:weightlifter:
I know, powertan is my favorite. They make the best stuff... Best all around if you trace back to IH. I don't like their new dozers.
