just wondering what is the best way to advertise? I have used flyers in the past and will get maybe 2 calls per 100 flyers. I have been thinking about sending out post cards but not sure if it is worth the investment. has anyone tried post cards? what were the results? any other ideas?

Have you ever heard of service majic. They are a compamy that sends you leads on the kind of work you do and charge you by the leads. Its a good way to promote your self and your company and you pick the areas you want to work by zip codes.

Do a search on this site for servicemagic. People have mixed results with this company just like flyers, etc..

If you are going to do post cards, my suggestion is to get leads for newly purchased homes and target them within 2 weeks of closing.

Otherwise, local papers (not Thrifty nickle or the like) and organization news letters. Like church bulletins, homeowners association (assuming they don't have a company maintaining the entire place).
