I’m suggesting we trim it back for starters and see if they can live with it. It would be much easier.

On another note ... See the retaining wall? That paver looks like one at HD. The owner wants a hardscape border of some sort put around the tree. The yard is small and aesthetically I think it would be too busy on the eye. I want to suggest a nice crisp cut edge instead of a hardscape edge. What do you think?

Try cuttin the floppy blades off the grass leaving the center

    I wouldn't recommend a raised tree ring
Maybe make it a little bigger ring and dont bury the tree imoThumbs Up

I talked the homeowner into trimming it. I did, and it looks good but still too tall. He wants it cut back another foot or so. Those blades will be really tough there. I doubt my Stihl hedger will cut it cleanly. Is this a hand pruner job?

You know how to sharpen the trimmer blade? If so do it. And again after that job. They are tough to cut, that’s for sure

Some guys tie off and use a chainsaw

I talked the owner out of the tree ring. I also talked him into trimming the miscanthus back. Someone recommended sharpening my hedge trimmer before and after. What a difference a sharpening made! It worked great. Thanks!
