Aerating Fescue Lawn in May (North Carolina)

    I've read that it's good to aerate heavy compacted clay soils twice a year..once in the fall (with seed + fert) and once this time of year (no seed of course).

    Anyone aerate this time of year, fescue?

    We did our clients in late February here in Asheville. We'll start another round late August/ early September. I like to lime with aeration since lime does not travel through the soil well.

    Of course, I try to push Aeration, Lime, Seed, and fertilizer all at once esp. in the Fall.

    We rent the machine...about a hundred bucks a day and charge a little more than double the mowing price.

    I should also mention that it's getting too hot in NC atm to aerate.
