Everyone likes to quote $ per 1000 square foot, but that never worked very well for me. Some yards are open and flat = quick to do. Some are hilly with alot of trees etc. = a long hard day. The best way I have found is to quote $ per hour. My rate to the customer is $60/hr. ( I don't tell them that. ) If I estimate a job at 45 min. = $45, 60 min. = $60. We focus on small yards that matches our equipment, most in the $35-$45 range. While doing one yard, send your kid/neighbor kid/helper knocking on doors. This usually brings in jobs faster than we can do them.
