I have a request from a customer to sod over a once above ground pool. There is two-three inches of sand there, then top soil- Can I just use a tiller and mix the two without having to scoop the sand out & replace w/top soil since it's not that deep? I would have to remove a section of privacy fence to bring in a bobcat, if I have too. Also, doesn't the ground where the pool goes normally get treated w/a chemical that stops growth?

I've done sod lots of ways. If you till it about 6-8" deep, I think you'll be fine. i would do a soil test to make sure. If anything a little higher potash (potassiuim) would be desireable. What sod will you be using? St. Augustine or Bermuda?
Ric is a pro here on St. Augustine

St. Aug- yard is on sprinkler so I was thinking about just leveling w/lawn rake and laying the sod.
