Lazer- wow!!! Your supplier must love you.
I think I would have trouble selling fertilizer only. Do your customers ever ask about any other services such as weed control or grub control ? How do you handle such questions ?
I'm not trying to be difficult, but the customers I have want one person taking care of the yard. I have a couple of chem. only accounts. But none that just want fertilizer.
How is the ride-on spreader working out for you?
My goal is to grow the fertilizer side of my business.
Only about 30 fert accounts now. At what point is the ride on spreader worth the investment in your opinion.
I purchased the Perma-Green Ride-On spreader this spring and it's okay.
The one I built (on the core chassis of an Exmark Turf Tracer) is by far better, smoother, more maneuverable, more reliable, more stable, more versatile and more powerful. (For not much more money)
I also have 2 walk-behind (power) spreader-sprayers.
At what point do you need a ride-on?
About at age 30.
JEFF: I am going to edit my question to :fertilization business only. we do weed control/insect control only on a as needed terms, except pre-m. all get pre-m except the total shade lawns.
jeff what part of new jersey are you from?

Thats funny I only have a grand total of $1400 (+another $300 when you include a sulky)into my ride on sprayer(15 gal) and spreader 100lb and it also mows and even bags 44" of turf when needed.
Sometimes homemade stuff just works better cuz you have
developed it to fit YOUR needs.
BTW it also uses only a half gallon of fuel/hour.
Lawrence, do you have pictures you could post of your sprayer/spreader. I am thinking of building one myself.
I am from Bergen County...How about you ?
jeff: gloucester co.(glassboro area)
We have 3 lawn maintenance crews and 2 fert. crews,
I think you would have to do both to make it work.
Most of the landscapers that know do both or just
cut 4 days and fert 2 days ??
