I have around 250 linear feet of black edging that has grass that is overgrown over it. Usually we can just use our string trimmers to take care of this, but do any of you have any suggestions if the grass is to overgrown with grass and dirt as well to redifine the bed edge. Before you say "you need a bed edger we have a Brown Trencher and that won't work. That is only for new installs unless there is a bit the does this job that I don't know about. Thanks for any help! Oh, would any of you bid this differently than hourly?

Sometimes if you use those small, D handle flat-edge shovels, you can use the ground as a lever and pry up on the bead of the edging. Many times you can pry it up to whatever height you need (depending on how it was staked).

That's the quick and dirty way to do it.
