Bought a "Toro Titan Max" brand new from Tractor Supply.... only used it year 2023 summer (belt broke a few weeks in, something was too tight, not sure how to explain, a round belt guide got in the way of the belt & moved, making it too tight, got tangled on the belt). If that makes any sense..... Replaced that belt, worked till THIS summer...
.
Husband went to grass yesterday , grass was wet, maybe a bad idea? and the belt broke again. These belts cost $100 + ... discouraged here.

Any advice about checking these belts before we mow, when NOT to mow, etc. We purposely bought this because it is supposed to be a BEAST and can cut through tall grass, we haven't even been using it LIKE THAT and belts are breaking.. Help!

It sounds like a pulley or tensioner isn't working right
Or maybe you routed the belt incorrectly around the pulleys

My husband checked a little bit ago, I guess a spring was missing, Not sure how that happened ! Just from some wet grass.. is this normal ?

I'm missing an Ancient GRAVELY 800 series at this point, that thing took some serious abuse and belts rarely ever broke unless we hit something, ran over rocks. They just don't make machines like they used to.

Can you or your husband post a photo of the broken belt? Let's see if we can help diagnose from this forum platform.

Is the last belt that broke Kevlar material (Aramid) ??

How is the belts static tension when installed?

Both belts were OEM Kevlar, these Toro Belts cost over $100 each. I need to go take a photo, then upload to this chrome book ... be back. This only has 49 hours on it... so we're a little disgusted.. never hit anything.. but again, wet grass...

I have another photo I will try to add. where after the 1st belt broke (within a few weeks of getting this machine) ... how we had to make sure something was set a certain way or NOT start it... I am just the wife trying to make sense of all of this.. I relay what I learn back to my husband, he doesn't do forums.. thank you all so much.,

This photo is something I laminated after our FIRST OEM TORO BELT Broke... I don't understand this.. but my husband told me Never start it unless this was aligned this way.. Again, what is making this Titan mess up like this? Any ideas?
I wrote on the back of this.. it was a STICK THAT GOT STUCK, it was 7 mows in (11.6 hours)

I just bought (2) of these belts 4 days ago, they were $83 each, I just looked and now they are $114 each. ... The last belt we bought (this one that just broke) was directly from TORO dealer, cost was $129 with tax. Hoping these Belts on Amazon are Genuine as it states. Any advice where to buy Toro Belts for a lower cost?

Wanted to get back to tell everyone who replied what happened.. Dealer picked up Titan Max 2 days ago, and are delivering It back today ! As I understand from Toro Warranties, Belts aren't covered but the Dealer did not charge me for the belt, they only charged us the Pick up / Delivery fee. Something was wrong with the Idler Pulley, possibly defective from the start.. so Replaced Idler Pulley, Friction washers and Belt.
