I've decided to take the plunge and start landscaping more and mowing less. Does anyone out there use this this piece of equipment. Is it reliable? It looks to be a much heavier duty item than the Dingos, and the Kangas I've been looking at. If you have one what do you use this equipment for?

No info on the Gehl but am interested in knowing more. Do you have a web site address?
I am looking at the Boxer mini-skid.
This is the only machine I have found with 14 gal per min. hyd. flow plus variable tracks, diesel or gas

Before converting every piece of equipment other than a 463 over to Caterpillar, or ASV, we had Gehl machines. Great company, with excellent service. They basically are what we called a sleeper company (one that not too many give credit to) The mini Gehls if made as well as the larger machines should give you great service for years to come.

Absolutely. Gehl definitely makes some very reputable products. Because of its relatively limited market presence, it doesn't have quite the reach as other companies. I highly doubt any of its products (not even the excavators, which aren't made by Gehl) would give any trouble.

    this is true,
    we had most of the Gehl loaders (1620, 1625, 3825, 4635, 5635, 5640)
and now i will buy the new one (1640)
this is only availible in Europe (its about 107cm wide) and fit´s trought most doors, and it´s strong !

we had very good experience with gehl, and when there are troubles, the
fill fix it most time in warranty, the loaders are very strong,
wenn you try the new 5640 you will never use an different,
it is very great wenn you use foamfilled tires with the opt. counterwight
it is a different that you don´t belive,
I have lifted with the 5640 about 1300kg in the bucket, without troubles,

the GEHL excuvator where build im my area (in LINZ - Austria)
and where sold here as neuson,
and also not so polulär here,
you only can see GEHL skidloader here in Austria, somtimes also some bobcats or caterpillar too, but most are gehl
and they company here sells about 350pcs per Year,
try the GEHL TL series, the power is unbelievable,
    (was build by takeuchi !)
each 3rd excuvator in the compactsize is in Austria also takeuchi,
    we also have a TB145

the GEHL loaders are cheaper here in austria that in the US,
the 5640 costs about 27.500€ with ride-control and heater is extra with about 3000€
because we have add the RCS and the header too,
the ride-control is great when you ride at highspeed,

    greatings from Austria

Welcome, lamster! Thanks for the additional insight. Not too many Gehl owners here, I believe.

I used to have a Gehl skidsteer. I believe it had a Perkins deisel, about 45hp.
That was one tough machine. It ran nearly 8hrs/day, 5 days/week for 3 years. Never had any trouble with it. If I ever need another skidsteer, Gehl will be at the top of my shopping list.
BTW, I believe Gehl bought one of the other skidsteer companies. Mustang is the one that comes to mind.

mustang was buyed from the GEHL company, look at the newspage age the gehl webside,
the old 35 series was great,
i have the new 5640 old 3 months, work great
first i have problems with some hoses, that was not tighed very well, so it´s leaks,
have you tryed the 2 speed loader with the rcs ?
was great and very fast !
we travel to jobsites that was 10km wide away without problems,
that is faster than load it on the truck,
at 30mins you are also on the jobsite without a lorry to carry them to the site, and with no extra charge for delivering,

have anyone also an FERMEC backhoo ?`
spezial an 965 with electronic control ?

    sorry for missspellings
my english is not so well
