I’m looking for a full synthetic oil for use in my 2 cycle mix. I’m leaning towards Amsoil Saber and Stihl Ultra since they both are full synthetic which is supposed to cut down significantly on smoke and provide much better protection. Can anyone provide feedback on either?

I've been running the stihl ultra for atleast five years at 50:1 mix. Don't see much smoke but I get alot of oil dripping out the mufflers. I might start adding a little less oil when I mix and see if there is any change. I don't run synthetic oils in my mowers but I do like the stihl ultra.

I just started running Amsoil after meeting a rep. After what I’ve seen so far, about to run their products in everything!

I run stihl ultra always with non ethanol premium.
Only issue is I still get lots of carbon buildup in muffler.
Next year I'm going to run 1 trimmer on Saber and the rest on ultra and see if there is a big difference.
Here's 1 yr carbon on ultra.

I think your carbon is coming from the premium gas. Remember, Higher octane gas burns hotter, therefore, will cause excessive carbon buildup and will foul out spark plugs if the engine wasn’t designed for it. I wouldn’t run any fuel hotter than mid grade non-ethanol.

High octane doesn't burn hotter, it actually burns slightly slower.
The premium we have here is 91 octane. Not exactly raceing fuel.
But to get non ox I have to biy premium.

So if it burns hotter, it's not burning off everything? Explain

Not sure why some folks think that carbon deposits burn off...they are as burned as burned can get.

I've been using Amsoil Saber for about 10 years. I mix about 2 oz. per gallon (around 60-1). I use it in weedeaters, blowers, trimmers, chainsaws... never had any problem and it definitely runs cooler and with less smoke.

Carbon burns. It's actually unburned fuel/oil. Once carbon is completely burned it becomes ash.
    Ashes don't burn.
