    Heck no your not crazy.

People who tell you that your crazy for securing your equipment haven't had a set of $400 hedge trimmers "walk off" from the back of their truck...or a $400 backpack blower "disappear"...or a $400 string trimmer just "vanish"..........

And keep the serial numbers recorded at your shop/home.

I retrieved a set of Redmax CHT-2200 hedge trimmers last fall after a punk walked into my garage and stole them-because I had the serial numbers. The pawn shop wasn't happy...but I sure was! :D

I keep my stick edger, trimmer and blower on a rack and if it's not in my hand being used, it's locked. Some of the back yards that I do, take no more than 5 minutes to trim . Two years ago in November I was in the back yard for no more than two minutes and when I came out my stick edger was gone. Happened so fast that I thought someone was playing a joke on me, but that is when I learned that you can never be too safe. Sounds crazy but if I'm edging 10' from my trailer and never out of eye sight I still lock it up. Just became a good habit.

Our equipment is always locked on the trailer unless we are using it. We don't take any chances. to much money riding around on my trailer

You know... I have never thought about the need to lock up hand held equipment at a property. DUH. How do you guys recommend you secure things? I have open trailers. Do those Trimmer Traps lock? What do you do for hand held blowers & gas cans?

I used to run a chain or heavy duty bike lock ( 10 ft. or so ) thru hand held eq. and gas cans, and make sure it's around the trailer too.

Before I got a box to lock the stuff in, I seriuosly considered a seperate chain for each piece of equipment so that one snip of the bolt cutters wouldn't free up everything at once.

And that ain't paranoia, in my mind, that's good security.
