Just a quick price check etc. I'm in MA, good area, not great, but good. Avg. lawn price according to quickbooks is $42.85. Most of my route is 15k foot lawns. Spring cleanups avg. about $250, as long as I don't have to haul anything away and take a two man crew 2-2.5 hrs. each. Hourly rate probably running from 45-60 hr depending on what were doing. I pay 12.50-16$ per hr. for guys. Won't step foot out of truck for less than $30. 2 Man mow crew does 800-900 a day, in 8 hrs...wish I could charge more, but I'm doing decent.....anyone else?

im right there with you, my avg price per lawn was $43 last year, pumped them all up a few this year, thats prior to taxes which i dont you have to charge in Ma. my fall cleanups were pushing more towards $275-350ish but some include 1 load hauled.

We work 8 hr days. Usually make a stop and cut 2-4, then load up and drive away. With my overhead and what I pay people if I couldn't make at least 800 a day it wouldnt' be worth it!
agree'd business is $50/hr to run, thats $400 before payrole, need at least $800/day to make a living. we can wipe out 3-5 lawns an hour usually in the $140/hr range mowing. so i good days were in the $1200 or more range.

The average residential lawn here is about $30-35. Most of mine are between $25-65. Commercial here is about $50-150 a mow. I only charge $25-30 an hour for spring and fall clean ups. De-thatching I charge $50-65 an hour, same for Aeration core plugging. Most lawns will take 3-5 hours for thatch work and about the same for core plugging. I own all my own equipment to save on rentals. I used to rent then decided to just bite the bullet and get my own thacther, and core plugger.

It's just me, unless I get behind a little, then I hire my brother, brother in law, or a few co-workers. I usually get everything done myself and hold a full time night job. I take care of usually 30-35 green accounts, and 28-35 snow accounts. Keeps me busy, wife says too busy.

Now I know after being a member for about a year, someone is going to do math say prices don't add up, that is cheap, come and do my lawn for that price etc.... I live in a population of about 10,000 people the biggest town in the county. This is the going prices for this area which I don't think is to bad. SO CAN WE ALL GET ALONG ON THE WEB SITE?

I'm in a very similar situation as you... my average is around 30-35 per cut. Too many high school kids willing to work for gas money using thier dad's riding mower. Things are looking up though, Starting to get my name out there and building a quality reputation... I think things will pick up this year for me.

High school kids arent always using their dads mower. Im a freshman 16 years old and I purchased my own mowers. 2 new mowers, not junk mowers. my dad helped me out to get started but you cant say nobody else did that either. the chances are that your dad or grandpa let you use thier mower.

:usflag:I charge a 45 to 60dollar per hr on all spring and fall cleanups. I raised prices last 2yrs will probley raise agian this year, with the fuel prices so high. I try and stay with the higher end clients, and have never been questioned about price raising...I do make alot more just mowing in a season but i do just about everything...shrubs, pruning, fert, pluging, installs, beds, ect, ect,.......hope we don't see another drought this season....Marks Mowing Service
Hello Mark,

Another Indiana guy here......

If you don't mind me asking, what consist in your spring clean ups?
I need to add one into a bid I'm working on. Went to look at it today and its is covered with trash, leaves, mulch wash-off from islands in parking lot. This is a commercial property.

i start around $30 in jersey, area i think is saturated, lots of BIG landscape COs all have huge lawn crews now. Lots of little starter up guys doing cheap work in smaller developments....

Is that 45-60 an hour for one guy or two? For two thats really low, for one thats really good.

I wish i could get 800-900 a day for 2 guys. I want to say on average for 2 guys ill get $700~ . If all the lawns were close i could top that though. I have hit 800 sometimes though, but usually working over 8hrs. Like from 8am-6 or 7pm.

I mean heck, im competitive with other LCOs locally for 1-2 acre properties starting at $40.00 1.5 acres and some are doing them for $40-45. I was reluctant to charge so little for the big places, but i have a development with 5 $45 properties in it and theyre all 1-1.5 acres and fairly close together, with 2 of us on mowers most of the time, and quick trimming and edging, we make out better just because theres zero drive time.

Congrats on getting started. My oldest son is 12, he is taking over a few accounts from me. I'm helping him get started. Bought him some equipment, taking half of what he makes to pay for it. I think it is fair, he wants to buy his own stuff, to be just like dad. I'm excited for him. He has helped me in the past, of course he always wants to ride, not push. He be a pushing this year.

I appologize, cause I know there are some kids out there doing things the hard way like the rest of us... I know a couple personally. Props to you for that.

Problem is that I also know of a couple of kids with dad's mower that are mowing yards for $10. Just no compeating with that. Part of the reason I've started pushing for more commercial work.
