I was on the ABPA website in the talk fourm, and some asked how you would test a Febco 775 PVB

In all the years i have been in backflow, i have never seen this one before.

You'd just test the check valves, like in any other BP. Odd configuration, but probably met some codes, so worth manufacturing.

Why did they stop making it?

Maybe it was just better to supply it as an RPZ. Only a slight difference in construction.

Why are they sometimes refered to as rpz's? I've always called them rpz's but plumbers and inspectors insist on calling them rpa's, just curious.

The name I first learned was Reduced Pressure Principle Backflow Prevention Assembly - I'll take RPZ

makes sense, it's just a little strange going into different suppliers and asking for an rpz and getting a funny look, you know the look it's that same look when you try to order a poly stretcher

The nice thing about "thingamajigs" is no one has to assume responsibility
for testing & service & has a purveyor that has clue O about cross-
    connection.
