Has anyone put bar tires on their ZTR.
The lack off traction is driving me crazy.

The tires have been on back order.
Should get them today, so the tire dealer says.
I will up date tonight one way or the other.
That's a pretty cool idea. Honestly haven't heard of that before but makes a lot of sense.
Tractor owners have been doing it for decades, there are a lot of different things you can fill the tires with to add weight. Some tractor owners fill the tires with windshield washer fluid, that way it won't freeze in the winter.

Filling them with a calcium cloride/water solution is also popular because it's heavy. Be sure to fill them higher than the top of the rim though of the wheels will rust.
envy i'm not really sure about the spacing issue, our z's have
24x12.5x12 rears from the factory, the 52" has 23x10x10, u may want to try a different set of rims as the offset may be all you need, usually the wider rim has a deeper offset(i think?)

Works for great for me mate :) give it a go next time it rains.
Thanks for the good advice guys. Think I will. Really don't know how well it'll work with the shallow treads on the Carlisle turf savers though. Do I need a more aggressive tire tread?

Yeah, but where would I buy these rims? They might fit stock rims, but I want the other tires on another set of rims anyways. I have plenty of trim to play with, so why take a chance on them rubbing ya know?

Don't use water; it will rust the rim. Tractor guys will tell ya calcium chloride only. Never heard of using windsheild washer fluid, i suppose it might work.
Envy,

I went from 23x10.5-12 turf saver to 24x12-12 turf master on my GD.

I woundn't do it. They do call for the same rim size, and they do fit in the shop. But once you get moveing, the tire shifts on slopes and will rub.

----Hey does anyone need a set of 24X12-12 Turf Masters? Slightly used.---
I don’t believe this, still no tires.
I think Carlisle may have went out of business? LOL
yea fill them suckers about 3/4 full of tap water. especially if u live north of say south corolina.
okay ,,im a smart a-- .. antifreeze
Put the valve stem at about 2:00, pop the bead and fill them w/ a water antifreeze mix until it comes out the valve stem hole. Reseat the tire and fill w/ air. Average tire size you add about 20 - 25 lbs per tire this way.

Send me a PM if anyone needs tires. I can get them if they make them.
mowit12000,

What would you say is the difference in turf tearing between your Z with the Titan at101 bar tires and a Z with normal turf tires?

Also, the at101 tires are ATV tires, which of course are softer than normal ZTR tires. Has this had any effect on your ride?

Thanks!
big dave i have to say that if u get a kid on it and not paying attention, they have a tendency to tear a little more, but thankfully i am fortunate that this machine is basically reserved for hillside mowing and i am the only one that does that for the boss as far as the ride they are not any softer they are still 12 ply they are just as rough at times , but well worth it in my opinion if you have steep hills to mow........ and your welcome
:blob3: Does anyone know where to buy the rims at?
Those look like the Super Lug tires. They look harder and appear they would be harder on the turf than the AT101's. I guess you'll find out for us.

I appreciate you keeping us up to date on them!

I'm trying to decide between the Bar tread, the Maxxis Pro Tech turf or fluid in the tires. I don't think adding weight is going to help much with the "packing up" issue though, so it will probably be a different tread design, one tha's at least more open in design..
Lahanko, I have a Toro Z255 with 52" deck. I too have traction issues at times. Did you have any problems with the fit of those lug tires? Any down side to them yet? I'm considering a possible move to lug tires, BTW - what size were they and what brand-model were they again. Thanks
Maybe off the subject on this thread, but here's a link to a tire supplier that sells lawn mower tires for $ 10 a piece - any size and any style, brand new!

Here's that link again, the previous one seems to be "dead"
