Battery or Charging System on Kohler Command

I need some ideas on how to identify the difference in the charging system and battery issues. I put a volt meter on the battery and it reads just over 12.0-12.4 prior to start. When it starts, it drops slightly and levels back out just under this reading about .2 difference. With full throttle, I engage the PTO and it will drop off to about 11.5 or 11.6. After shutting down the PTO the reading jumps back to the original starting point around 12.0. Any help would be great, this is my first electrical or battery type issue.

It's not charging. You should have about 12.6 VDC with the engine off and up about 14ish or so when full speed.
You might also put your meter on ACV. Any reading should be near 0.

You can download the Kohler manual for proper troubleshooting techniques.
