Small beds you can use old garden hose to make ur shape then spray paint the outline of the hose when youre happy with the look.

Use the hose to visualize, but generally I use marking paint so i know where I am cutting.

Buy yourself a cheap 100ft garden hose. Put a 1/4 turn valve on each end. Fill it with water to give it some weight so it will stay where you put it. Lay out your design & then trace it with marking paint. Pick the hose up so you don't damage it while edging the bed. Follow your painted outline and you got it! Good luck!
